Technician Profiles

We like to think that the relationship between a National Speed technician and our customers is like that of a doctor and his patients (don't worry - we won't make you turn your head and cough). Our crew of experienced techs will treat your vehicle with surgical precision, and we want you to rest assured that you're in good hands... so why not take a second and get to know us a little bit better.

Bobby Downes - Chief Performance Technician

You may recognize Bobby from the popular TV show OVERHAULIN' where he was a featured technician during the first season. He has been into cars since High School when he worked on his dad's Porsches and used them to pick up girls. In addition to owning and operating his own performance, fabrication, and welding business for four years, Bobby has an amazing vehicle collection which includes: 08 BMW 135I, 06 Dodge 2500 Diesel Truck, 97 Jeep Cherokee (lifted), 76 Toyota Land Cruiser, Bugatti kit car, and a 2006 Buell Lightning.

Ben Salasko - Chief Tuner

Ben studied mechanical engineering at Kettering University in Flint Michigan where he was a merit scholar. While there, he was chosen to participate on the University's Formula SAE Team where he was an active participant in the conception, design and fabrication of a formula style racecar. As a result of his work on the SAE Team, Ben was recognized by Bosch for his exceptional skill and ability in electronics and engine management. In 2005, Ben began working as an engine tuner at KTR Performance where he worked with a wide variety of cars and their corresponding array of computers. He's also a helluva good hockey player (when he's not tuning cars).

John Faldzinski - Performance Technician

John has been racing motorcycles and working on cars since he could crawl. Growing up on a farm, John spent most of this time fixing up his dad's classic cars, including the 1963 Ford Fairlane he still drives today. Having spent 18 years with Ford Motor Company, John achieved the honor and distinction of becoming a Senior Master Technician. When John isn't at the shop you can probably find him racing his motorcycles in super bike competitions or enjoying his daily banana break that he takes precisely at 10:00 AM every day.

Timothy Farmer - Performance Technician

Tim has worked on cars for nine years and loves avoiding the daily grind of sitting at a desk. He'd much rather spend his time hunched over an engine block (especially if it's a Subaru) or out on his bike racing motocross. Tim spent three years as a Performance Technician with BMW, until he recently joined the team at National Speed where his tireless work ethic and mechanical abilities enable him to always get the job done.
